Can Invisalign offer invisible teeth straightening?

Absolutely! Dr. Reza N. Roodsar of Auburn Centre Dental in Waterloo, Ontario, is excited to offer invisible teeth straightening with Invisalign. Invisalign uses transparent trays that fit over the dental arch and reposition the teeth gradually with a tried-and-true process.

Invisalign starts with an evaluation to determine if a patient is a proper candidate. Mild to moderate malocclusion and poor bite alignment can often be improved with Invisalign treatment. Once a patient decides to continue with Invisalign treatment, they undergo a series of digital impressions that are taken through computer software and sent to the Invisalign laboratories. Several trays are created using these images and then sent to the dental office. Once the trays are received at our office, patients return to pick them up and learn how to use them. We offer information on how to keep them clean and how to put them in and out of the mouth, as they need to be removed for brushing, flossing, eating, and drinking. Patients wear the first tray for at least 20 hours a day for two weeks, then switch to the next tray. The process continues until the last tray, which sets the new smile in place. A retainer can be used at night to maintain the alignment after completing the process.

Does Invisalign work better than metal bracket-and-wire braces?

There are situations in which traditional orthodontics (braces) may still need to be used. Those with more severe misalignment and malocclusion might be suited for conventional braces if the extent of the movement is far more than what can be accomplished with Invisalign. Dr. Roodsar will consult with patients during their first appointment to have a complete evaluation done and decide if Invisalign teeth straightening is the best approach to achieving a more aligned smile. We work with orthodontists in the area who can accept referrals and provide the care patients need if they are not candidates for Invisalign orthodontics.
